Above - Rafiki and Corona

My first Rhodesian Ridgeback is Yakuti Rafiki of Jabalieupe CGC CD aka "Rafiki." Rafiki is a female and she is the queen of the house. Rafiki is definitely a counter surfer but can also be aloof. When I brought Rafiki home I also had a Boxer, Corona, who was about six years old at the time and Rafiki took to Corona as her mother.

I was able to learn the sport of showing dogs with Rafiki but soon found out that Rafiki was not destined to be a winner. I decided to have Rafiki spayed because she wasn't quite show quality and for me there was no point breeding a dog that is not show quality.

So, Rafiki lives a life of leisure now, not having to be in the show ring. And it proves that Rhodesian Ridgebacks can be beautiful pets as well.

Rafiki attended obedience classes under the direction of Linda Flaherty. She successfully earned her "CD" in the summer of 2007 with three attempts and the qualifying scores! We are so proud of her.
